Who: Online accounting software provider Having a good onboarding experience is really important for SaaS companies as it can help new users quickly become familiar with the product and start using it effectively. This provider already had messages in their application aimed at onboarding users however the load time of the message was too long, about 10 seconds, leading many users to navigate elsewhere before seeing it.

So instead they opted for a custom Unless component, along with an integration to their data lake, bringing the load time of the in-app message to 300 milliseconds or in other words 30x faster. This improvement in performance meant many more users of e-conomic were now seeing the in-app message block.

They opted for a combination of behavior and in-app data, as well as information from the data lake in order to provide a real-time, hyper-personalized, and account-specific onboarding experience. They use the component to provide educational content about accounting/bookkeeping broadly and about their product specifically while also providing account related guidance. All based on what an individual user needs and which actions they took already.

Check out more examples of their onboarding components in this case study.
